Working for the wknd

For the first time in a while it's just me and the boys! Alanna will come out and do the Bonjay thing if we come up with something new in time. Looking forward to dropping some nice new tunes (WHATTUP TEL AVIV) and some of the best from the last twelve.
NYE in TO and a US swing are both in the works, details soon come!
p.s. Chris and Lin have a myspace jammie until the proper site is done up.

Get down!

Mark Ronson and Alex Greenwald provide the shuffley, JBs/En Vogue-esque remix of Radiohead's "Just" (lo-fi MP3)
Dolby still blinding with dancehall science

Seiji with a new one that steps his rep up once again. Call them what you want, man's new joints are all basically all uptempo dancehall to me.
Boozoo Bajou Feat. Joe Dukie & U Brown : Take It Slow (Seiji rmx)
vocal & dub <- the one (both lofi MP3s)
Harder than yall 'cause I'm smarter than yall

I'm not usually one to hatehatehatehate but I love seeing Nicky Hilton put on blast for acting ignorant. Ask A-Trak what he was doing when he was 21. . .

That D update

Not sure exactly how free beer until it runs out became one beer ticket each until they run out prematurely, but we were as surprised as you. Someone at BeerCo cannot be trusted. That aside, another great one, big propers to all the guests.
Everybody got pix but me, will post them here in a few days.

That D = tonight

A reminder to all those not to profile and pose when it comes to Pass That Dutch tonight. There are more tix than club capacity (600 vs. 400) so having a ticket doesn't guarantee entry. Reach early for the free beer and no line. Doors are at 8 (I know).
Enjoy!

Raving I'm Raving

One of my latest kicks is early 90s hardcore, the breaks-y stuff out of the UK that evolved into drum'n'bass. Great programming, lo-fi bass - this stuff is kissing cousins with Bmore club.
these two joints are both nice: (lo-fi MP3s)

Exclooosives!

Heard two new ones on 1Xtra today
Original Fever (Nov 14 edition) has the new Brooklyn's Finest connect: Notorious BIG ft Jay-Z - What You Want. Honestly? First listen had me a little disappointed - generic club drums and a nice verse from Biggie some okayness from Jay. Admittedly tough to live up to that pedigree though. Comes on about 35 minutes in. . .
Benji B (Nov 18 edition) come a lot stronger (so much easier when all the main ingredients are still alive). The new Bugz in the Attic tune is "Sounds Like" and it's sick. Rough-sounding sampled drums like I love em, Moonstarr-style Brazilian touches and proper bass. A dancefloor tune more than a song but it's right. Comes on around 1:40 in and it's out for real in December.
Timekode Birth Pix!
Big up all chests of those who reached, I think we just started something real special. Watch here or timekode.com for details of the next. . .

This Friday in Ottawa!

This Friday, November 18 is the first edition of our new night of music for the beat generation, from originals to classic productions to what’s next. Don't fear, Disorganised is still going strong, this is a new flavour with Funktion's DJ Zattar and my vocal better half Alanna Stuart along for the ride.
Timekode is more on the hip hop and beyond tip, in a small spot reminiscent of the early early Disorganised days back at Zibibbo. We're pulling out all the stops for number one - join us for the intimate, sweaty beginning of something good!
P.S. I just posted Zattar's first Timekode mix, mine will go up in the next couple days. . .
THIS IS IT WHAT: the details
Diso in Boston

My Diso brethren and I had to smile when we saw Chris Lemon-Red's piece on Caps'n'Jones'n'Disorganised for the Boston Phoenix. Big up everyone who reaches and makes it the best night of the month every month. . .
P.S. good job making home sound like a hick town Lino: "Booth explains that this is where the monthly party in Ottawa takes place — not as in 'the hippest,' but as in 'the only.'"

Polar Pair

The new Tru Thoughts twelve has a couple from a team who shone on one of the Rebtuz boots, Polar Pair. The stand-out is Out of Sight (realaudio) - female vox at dancehall tempo with the right production details that make it sound so sick. Ruff and recommended. Both tunes on the Shapes Z EP.
I came across a crazy comprehensive Tru Thoughts fan site too: check it

Hidden Classic

Learned from Booth last week that a couple of this year's biggest tunes are from a Wall of Sound comp that appeared last year. Haven't seen it once on this side of the pond since it came out in August 2004, but file sharing proved much more efficient than the music industry and they've been killing the dance for us. I still can't get over the Na Na tune - can't remember getting so amped over a song since the first time I heard "We Need a Resolution". . .

What's next, a Tipping Point LP?

Bizarre announcement: a film version of Malcolm Gladwell's book Blink is in development with the writer of Traffic directing and Leonardo DiCaprio appearing. Gladwell is just about the best long piece magazine writer working today. Always in-depth with unique insight, you finish every story with a greater understanding of how the world actually is, rather than the superficial, stock character view of things you find everywhere.
A couple starters: breaking down the undiscussed truths and suprising fallacies behind race and athletics and how university admissions really work.
Special shouts (as always) to the half West Indian Canadian massive
