Most embarrassing suspension ever.

Wonder Wrote It - the real deal

Turns out that the comps:

are but a pale imitation of the original mixtapes! Check this post off the 4hero board. Something to add to the list. . .

Another episode

Beat bol Benji didn't seem to have a show last week, but more than made up for it with this one! Leads off with big tune of the moment The Corner, then on to a new J-Dilla remix of Spacek, a new one from Pharaoh that proves he brings out the best in Sa-Ra, a sequel to Move from Dilla, and the final version of Big White Spaceship from Timbo and Pharell. Good tune, but prolly most notable for a nice verse from Magoo. Who knew?

Incidentally: I accidentally clicked on image search when I was calling up Benji B - love the third one. . .

MF Doom daily operation

What's your daily routine like?
Six o'clock wake up. I got my son, he's 10, and my nephew's eight They get me up. I make them their little breakfast or whatever, make sure they on time, make sure they on point By seven o'clock they're outta here on the bus. By then I really want to go back to sleep, but I'm already up so I'll throw a record on, or we got an X-Box in here and I'll fuck around with that for an hour or two. When nine o'clock comes around, I'll just review what I've got to do like emails, phone calls, unfortunately. But then after that it's just straight writing, especially now I'm just getting in the full swing of the Doom album.

A Scanner Darkly

Don't know much about this, but it looks like some kind of a much heavier "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". Preview (plays in QT).

Comm is officially back

Mr. Bigg Vision Kanye on directorial duties finds the right balance between the early-90s classic hip hop video steez and modern production technics. A lot like this beat and these lyrics. Hottest headbanger I've heard in a while. . .

Kid Koala DVD

Eric San, who turned me on to DJing and taught me some of the basics back when he was just a guy and I was in high school, has a DVD coming out. It's called "Live From the Short Attention Span Audio Theater Tour" and captures the truly unique show that made up his last tour.

KK is one of the most genuine and interesting people I've encountered in music. Here's a quick look (giant .mov).

The Chosen Two

Who saw this coming ten years ago? And who saw Diso coming? A lot of dudes, apparently. Big up to everyone who came out and kept the good good vibes, especially Kid SL for ripping it with a way more genre-hopping set than we've heard in a long time. I'm a little veklempt.

Apologies for the $3/$4 discrepancy between the flyer and the door. The boys are adamant about going home with a reasonable set of bills when the night is over, and four djs requires four bucks. And after all that work, I've got to admit it's nice to go home with enough money for some new records. Further flyers will be correct.

Photos in a few days. . .

Out and hot

Fat Joe with Just Blaze on the track "Safe to Say"
Solid Groove "Flookin' (Kenny Dope remix)"
Basement Jaxx "Oh My Gosh (Bugz rmx)"

Bugz piece is the only thing they've done in a while that hasn't floored me. Still nice, and likely to blow up the spot at next Diso (April 1). . .

All realaudio, all thanks to TTL.

Brasilintime trailer out

B+'s Babu, J-Rocc, Cut Chemist and Madlib go to Brazil extravaganza is coming soon. The concept always struck me as a little too "good in concept, nothing special in practice" but the film looks like it could be tight.
