M.I.A News from her record co.

Stating the obvious that a M.I.A./Diplo collabo will likely be fire:

DON'T MISS OUT! M.I.A has been spending time in the US recently. She performed at the Fader Party in NY and been recording with Diplo from Hollertronix in Phillidelphia. A result of this is a new mixtape. Again these will be available via the website very soon. There are going to be limited quantities, only 1000 copies in circulation so first come first served!! It gives you a good insight into what's coming up on
the album next year.

New Bugz remix is heavyweight

Rhian Benson "Say How I Feel (Bugz mix)" (listen mp3). Love the Pete Rock/Diddy style adlibs sprinkled throughout.

Pho on Work Release

Tuesday nights at Barrister's have switched up. With the cold weather, Frame and D-mass have brought them to Babylon now (317 Bank St.) I'm opening up this Tuesday, 10pm-12am, alongside the regulars. Good hip hop from across the board with a crowd that appreciates it.

For some reason, this venue get me thinking about the Disorganised NYE party. . .

So this is where Benji B's been!

Japan. Can't wait to dig into this! Especially since I just got back. . .

Photos of Chappelle block party

Are here. Respect to Ger for putting me up on Spine Magazine, the daily news section in the left-hand frame is a phorilla-type source from people that truly stay up and keep the updates flowing. A daily visit from now on, I think.

Loving this radio right about now

Rodney P & Skitz is my thing right now. Can't think of any American show where you get the best mix of underground and mainstream hip hop like this. Bleek on a Just Blaze track followed by the hot new Oh No, it gets no better. Sure, there's some Mase & Nelly in there, but you can just ff thru those.

They always sneak in a few obscure jammies too. LOVE the Skinnyman "I'll Be Surprised", best soul flip and song concept in a while. The Kardi & Vybz Cartel is nice too, dude just drips with personality and flow. . . when will he blow?

All this was brought on by the Benji B hiatus. Where'd he go?

The M.i.a. "Galang" XL single. . .

is due out Sept. 27 with Cavemen and South Rakkas remixes.

Dave Chappelle Block Party

Coming next Saturday (September 18):
"A special neighborhood in New York will host the “block party” featuring artists: Kanye West, Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Dead Prez and The Roots with Dave Chappelle serving as the event’s master of ceremonies."

Word is it's in BK and being filmed by Michel Gondry for a documentary inspired by the '72 Wattstax one. Musical director is ?uestlove.

Nice to see Dave putting something back, can't wait to hear the results of this. Can't help but wonder if Comm and Erykah are going to perform together when "the light" ain't shining so bright any more. . .
