Sa-Ra vs. Jay-5
I didn't know that the hotly tipped (and Jay Dee-influenced) Sa-Ra Creative Partners hooked up "Hey" (Realaudio) on the last J5 album. Love how they give sample-based works that deep, futuristic Spacek feel. A crew to watch for - my money's on them revealing themselves in Straight No Chaser sometime soon. The J5 jammy came out on twelve.

Best thing I've read in a while, a lot more insight than all the other "Champion Sound"-related pieces. Renewed my faith that perhaps Urb hasn't fallen off yet. . .

Demetrius "Hook" Mitchell
Just picked up Bobbito's Bounce magazine (a guide to streetball) and came across an ad for this. They've made a movie about the life of Demetrius "Hook" MItchell, the Oakland ballplayer who came up alongside Gary Payton, Jason Kidd and all of them but never made it to the NBA. Hook was 5'9" and could dunk over a car! A legend that strayed on the path to greatness. . .
